Handling Stress
Stress is a silent epidemic that is sweeping across the globe which is costing people and businesses millions of money. It develops when persons can no longer cope with the pressures. Its symptoms which are mental, social, and physical include exhaustion, loss of/increased appetite, headaches, sleeplessness, and oversleeping.

What can you do to manage if you have stress?

  • Remove yourself from the stressful situation. Don't overwhelm yourself. Give yourself a break if only for a few moments daily. Get away for awhile - Read a book, watch a movie, play a game, listen to music or go on vacation. Leave yourself some time that's just for you.

  • See if there really is something you can do to change or control the situation. Look at your lifestyle and see what can be changed -- in your situation or your schedule.

  • Relax and get enough rest and sleep. Try yoga, meditation, deep breathing, or massage.

  • Exercise - Physical activity is one of the most effective stress remedies available.

  • Talk with people, friends, support groups or relatives about what is bothering you. Let it out. Loads are always lighter with someone.

  • Don't be too competitive. Tackle one thing at a time and don't try to do too much at once.

  • Think positive. Give yourself messages as to how well you can cope rather than how horrible everything is going to be.

  • Educate yourself. Buy books that deals with your current situation. Learning about your condition and knowing that a lot of people suffer the same symptom makes you feel that you are not alone and helps you in dealing with stress. There are a lot of available books and other materials dealing with this kind of problem.

Stress and Tension are normal reactions to events that threaten us. Such threats can come from accidents, financial troubles and problems on the job or with family.

The way we deal with these pressures has a lot to do with our mental, emotional and physical health. The above-mentioned suggestions may help you deal with your troubles
