For those who rely on income coming from salary, our only hope of having extra income is from extra payment for extra time worked or on salary increases. But as everyone knows, asking for a raise is sometimes difficult. Is there a way to justify your demand for an increase to your boss? There is and one way to do it is by increasing your value. In this case, I defined value as the amount of money an employer is willing to pay for your kind of service.

How do you increase your value? I believe that to be able to increase your worth to the company you must be able to provide extra service not normally available in your job category or position. And how do you do that? By training yourself to be one.

I have a friend who works for an international firm. He's been there for a few years now and since he started working for the company his salary has increased more than 3 times. I asked him how he did it and he said that he simply learn all other areas that would make his work easy and contributed to his work efficiency. It did not take a while for his boss to notice his interest, diligence and value to the company.

Telling everybody that you are not going to accept any other responsibilities, except those that are expected from your position is wrong. This would limit your chances to grow and will not give you the opportunity to learn new skills, which will increase your worth in the workplace. A guy I know works as a plumber. After 2 years working for the company, the guy is no longer just a plumber, but also learns carpentry and masonry. He said that he accepts other jobs given to him by his supervisor with the hope of learning new skills. In the end, he learns other skills that increase his value to the company. After some time, the company suffered financial setback and has to terminate a lot of employees. Guess who was retained. Also, the guy is now thinking of opening a shop for himself. With his well rounded skills, he is on his way to build a good business.

Increase your worth in the company and the money will follow.

Another way of increasing your cash inflow is to setup your own business. This requires study, planning and of course capital. However, those of you who are already having financial problems just cannot afford to expose yourself to another financial risk. Well, you can start small.

There are a lot of business model available out there. One such model is an online business. With online business, you can continue working and don't have to quit from your job. Management is very minimal, you only have to check you status every now and then. Also, the cost is very minimal.

I know of a guy who was able to setup a business even with the limited time that he has since he was also working. He cannot leave his job since it was his only source of income. However, he also wants to venture into a small business that might open the doors for him. He feels that working for others give him that creepy feeling that somehow, he needs to start something on his own and to be his own boss without quitting his job. The online business that he opened provides him with a safety net since he will still continue working while he let his business instinct try something else.

Starting an online business is relatively easy and is not really hard. However, it also requires guts to get there. The journey towards a thousand miles, so they say, always starts with the first step. Unless you start that "first step" you never get somewhere into your dream business. So, if you want to start an online business, jump right in.

Here are the simple and straight forward steps to do this.

Find your area of interest. Which business you would like to start? I suggest engaging in a business where your area of interest is or find something that you really like doing. If you enjoy what you are doing, you never work a single moment in your life. Online business is no exception to this golden rule.

Find an affiliate company that can give you the business that you need. There are so many available on the net; you just have to surf the web.

It's the cheapest so far I have found and the service is good. I recommend them and you better check-it out. For a start go for personal hosting because you can easily upgrade your hosting plan once your traffic has increased.

Make the necessary website design and development. You may request for an outside assistance regarding this. There are a lot of web page templates that can also be downloaded from the Internet which you can use. You may buy books to help you in doing the development on your own. It's not really hard, just need some patience.

Finalize your domain name registration and web hosting.

Publish your site. Do it with less funfare but with more prayers.
